Preparing for harvest season

After flower season (Spring), only one seedpod develops from a tiny little yellow flower. Aspalathus Linearis is a fynbos plant and in nature the seeds need to burn to germinate.  When the seeds are ripe, it fell on the sandy soil and are collected by workers whom sell it to farmers. It then is treated chemical to get rid of the hard shell.

While the rooibosplants are growing in the summer son, the farmers prepare for harvest season, starting January.  The 3 blades of the chopping machine are replaced and sharpen to ensure a clean neat cut of about 3 mm.
